JJ Ohlinger is a native of Omaha, Nebraska. He then moved to Greenville, South Carolina, as a teenager and earned a degree in Scientific Illustration from the University of Georgia. After completing his studies in college, he moved to San Francisco for several years, working as an illustrator for the Grateful Dead. In the late ’90s, he relocated to Charleston, South Carolina, where he owned a graphic design and web agency while also maintaining a painting studio on King Street. Additionally, he successfully showcased his artwork in other galleries and museums. More than ten years ago, JJ decided to pursue a career in tattooing. Together with his wife, he opened their tattoo shop in Salt Lake City, Utah, and established Prohibition Ink Custom Tattoo in October 2016.
