Jill Bonny, also known as “Horiyuki,” studied tattoo art while in New York City when she attended private college The Cooper Union. She has more than twenty years of experience in the tattoo business, almost all of which she spent working at State of Grace Studio in San Jose. She collaborated with Takahiro Kitamura there, helping with book authoring, publication, and editing in the studio’s publishing house. Jill’s work has appeared in tattoo publications and museum catalogs in the USA, Europe, and Japan. In 2008, Master Horiyoshi III of Yokohama bestowed upon her the title of “Horiyuki” in appreciation of her devotion to Japanese tattooing. Jill gives talks at several museums as well.
